A wine trading center with an electronic system will be launched at one of Guangzhou's bonded zones in Huangpu's Guangzhou Development Zone on July 9, the opening day of the fourth Guangdong International Wine and Spirits Expo (GIWSE).
The electronic trading system is similar to those used in New York and London, which offer a variety of services, including wine exports, wholesale purchasing, displays, packages, warehouse management, customs clearance and quality assurance.
Currently, 70 percent of imported wine comes through Shanghai, with 50 percent sold in Guangdong Province. But with the new trade platform, imported wine can be purchased directly at local ports.
Hong Kong stands to benefit the most from the wine trading center, further deepening its relationship with CEPA (Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement) corporations.
