Experts say the concept of greenery rates, uneven greenery in different areas and tree varieties result in the distinction.
Guangzhou uses a loose norm on greenery rates and green land. Comparatively in Singapore any land with a width more than 8 meter is called 'green land' and its greenery rate is according to the area in community parks.
On the other hand, 85% of the city's green area is concentrated in the northern mountainous area. Densely populated downtown shares a lower coverage and cause the hotter effect.
Unlike the shelving arbor, plant experts point out that most trees in Guangzhou are small-sized bush. Additionally, many trees are cut or removed during road renovations. In Singapore, trees are not allowed to be cut during road construction.
