Citizens visit the Guangzhou Muesum on the 80th anniversary of the Museum yesterday. (Guangzhou Daily)

Yesterday (May 16th) was the 80th anniversary of Guangzhou Museum and tomorrow (May 18th) will be the Guangzhou International Museum Day. The new Guangzhou Museum is to sit in the city's Baiyun New Town beside the Baiyun International Exhibition Center, as reported by Guangzhou Daily. The new building owns an area of 47-49 thousand square meters. The construction plan is now still under discussion. 

Mai Yinghao, Guangdong famous archaeologist, honorary Director of Guangzhou Museum announced on the ceremony that Baiyun New Town will be new home of Guangzhou museum. Also Director of Guangzhou Museum Cheng Cunjie released that the formal Guangzhou Museum — Zhenhai Tower on the Yuexiu Mountain will stay. The new and the old will exit at the same time.
