The mercury will drop a little bit in this area, however, heat wave will stay in other areas of the province with a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius.

The temperature on the road of Tianhe district in Guangzhou recorded as high as 40 degrees Celsius on July 5.

According to Nanfang Daily, the air temperature exceeded 35 degrees Celsius in 47 counties and cities yesterday (July 7), and the province's highest air temperature reached 37.7 degrees Celsius. 95 counties and cities were still issued high temperature alert.

Many people jumped into the swimming pool to escape from the heat.

Guangzhou opened 488 temporary shelters for the needed. Special measures have also been adopted to avoid power consumption peak. According to the announcement issued by Guangzhou Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau on July 6, employers are required to pay high temperature allowance, 150 RMB per month, to employees working outdoor or working indoor where temperature is extremely high.

As heat wave continues, people are advised to take measures to prevent heatstroke, such as avoiding outdoor activities in the afternoon, wearing light-colored clothes, drinking cold boiled-water, and preparing medical bills against heatstroke.
