China's wheelchair fencing Paralympian, the champion of Athens Paralympic Games and the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, crowns at the 2010 Asian Para Games in Guangzhou today (December 14). This is Hu Daoliang, a 30-year-old man from China's Jiangsu Province, made a miracle in his wheelchair fencing career.

Hu contracted poliomyelitis at the age of three, which confined him to a wheelchair, but the physical disability didn't make him self-defeating. Rather than being a burden of his parents, he was motivated and hardworking and at 20 years old, he opened a grocery store to keep himself fed.

Hu took up wheelchair fencing in 2003, which becomes a turning point in his life. With no training before, he was frustrated and even got hurt several times, but he didn't give up, "I can make it, just like a normal person." This notion helped him hold on and won China's first gold medal a year later at the Athens Paralympic Games. He defended his crown at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics and last month won the World Wheelchair Fencing Championship.
Talking about his success, he said calmly "Just play and show your skills." As for his future planning, he has set eyes on the London Paralympic Games, but "I need improvements, especially on technical details." He said.
